August 18, 2012: Gravel Ride, Salsa Cycles, Reveal the Path

I’ve briefly mentioned this before, but I think it bears its own post.

August 18, 2012 is going to be an awesome day.  I’m forecasting it right now.  If you’re in the midwest on or about that day, and if you’re looking to fill your day with awesomeness, read on.

1.  Grind Some Gravel:  A few of the gents from Salsa will be down, to engage in a little taste of good ole’ Northern Illinois gravel road hospitality.  Ride will likely depart North Central Cyclery at 7:30am, and will probably return around 10.

2.  Ogle Some Hardware:  The aforementioned Salsa gents will be bringing with them the newest, hottest hardware that Salsa’s brought forth this year.  Expect to see the Warbird, Colossal and Beargrease.  I’m hoping to see a pile of titanium bikes and a stainlees steel Travel Vaya, but we’ll see.  These will be at NCC from 1-5pm, for ogling, drooling, fondling, caressing, and sampling.

3.  Viewer, meet Path.  Path, meet Viewer:  The new movie Reveal the Path will be screened at the historic Egyptian Theater, in DeKalb, Illinois.  What is Reveal the Path?

Reveal the Path Trailer from Mike Dion on Vimeo.

You may recognize Mike Dion as the central character from Ride the Divide.  I’ve yet to see Reveal the Path (hey–this is one of the movie premieres), but understand that it is epic, inspirational, and beautiful.  It should appeal to cyclists and non-cyclists alike.  And, at the pre-movie gathering, you again can spy the new Salsas, and continue ogling.

NCC has details on their site, here.

Tickets for Reveal the Path are available for pre-order, here.  (If that link doesn’t work for you, try this one.

Seriously–it’s going to be a great day.  A great ride, some amazing hardware, and an inspirational movie.  It’s worth the drive, folks.
