So there was previously some speculation about the new 11×1 XX1 system coming out from SRAM, centered around the possibility that they would require drivetrain specific hubs that would not be compatible with any other build. For those who are very interested in XX1 and who happen to have custom wheels with DT240s being built, this thought was quite nerve-racking.
Have no fear. The new hubs will be backwards compatible, as an upgrade to many existing hubs, according to Bike Rumor. That will include DT 240s, 180 carbon ceramics, 190s, 350s and 440s. Because the XX1 uses a one piece cassette, the hub is not splined the full width of cassette engagement.
