New Glarus, 2013

The New Glarus ride is, quite simply, the best ride of the year.  This year, we did a new route, starting in Freeport (at Freeport Bicycle Company, the sister to North Central Cyclery), and spending a significant chunk of our time on gravel.  As per the past 2 years, the Spam bus was pressed into service (get it?  PRESSED?  Because it’s pressed ham.  Spam is.  Nevermind.)

The route was amazing, the weather was perfect, the ride was glorious, the after-ride festivities were fantastic.  It doesn’t get any better.

Pre-ride pep talk.

The first stretch was anticipated to be close to 50 miles.  For a little extra piece of mind, I threw the third bottle cage (custom Moots option) on the Moots.  Unlike the Vaya, a bottle fits perfectly in the third bottle cage, with no front-tire interference.

The rollout.

A little bit o’ Pave.

Grrrrrravel!

Hero Gravel, to be precise.

Roads that go on….forever…

Chief Routemeister Nevdal.

Did I mention the roads were perfect?

It really is the best ride of the year.

So it’s all downhill from here, folks.

Just kidding.  Night Bison is around the corner.  If it is anything like last year, it will rock.
